For people coming from marginal sections of society, new beginnings make them anxious because they have a preconception that everything will be difficult. 2020 has been unpredictable for millions of people who do not have enough to save, earn or take care of their families. The Akshaya Patra Foundation stepped forward to take care of families struggling during these difficult times.
Programmes are undertaken by this NGO to ensure the future is better for people suffering during difficult times.
Apart from implementing the Government’s midday meal scheme, Akshaya Patra ensures healthy food for people in over 71 locations of India since the beginning of supporting the whole nation with the COVID -19 Relief Programme. So far, a cumulative of 20.5-crore meals have been served to people who are in need of food and essentials.

Akshaya Patra has always stepped up beyond implementing the midday meal scheme. It has provided food relief to people in times of distress, like the pandemic for example. However, now that everything seems to be aligning with the new normal and children have started going back to school, the NGO in India is back to feeding nutritious meals to school children.
