The Akshaya Patra Foundation is recognised as the world’s largest NGO-run Midday Meal Programme. On a daily basis, it feeds 18,00,907 children hailing from challenging backgrounds. It serves meals in 19,039 schools spread across 52 locations in 12 States and 2 Union Territories. The school meals prepared by The Akshaya Patra Foundation takes care of the nutritional requirement of children by following the guidelines provided by the Central Mid-Day Meal Scheme With Akshaya Patra’s meals, the beneficiary children get the right amount of calories, proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins. Akshaya Patra’s cyclical menu ensure that children get the adequate amount of nourishment from their meals and its locally palatable meals make sure that children enjoy the local cuisines. For example, rice is served in the southern regions of India and roti and puris are served in North India.
