As in the past, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has once again come forward to support the needy during a crisis hour, and this time for a totally unforeseen one – the COVID-19 Pandemic. Working in coordination with the Government of India, State Governments and Local Administrations, and in association with Volunteers and Donors, Akshaya Patra began its COVID-19 Food Relief Service on 25 March 2020.
In this hour of need, when the nation is under lockdown to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, Akshaya Patra is aiding the Government’s effort by serving cooked meals and distributing grocery kits to low-income and marginalised population of the society comprising of migrant labourers, daily wage workers, construction site workers, and needy people in old age homes and night shelters.
As on 13 Aug 2020, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has served 2,84,92,715 cooked meals and distributed 7,69,668 dry grocery kits across Rajasthan, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Punjab, Tripura, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.
