As in the past, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has once again come forward to support the needy during a crisis hour, and this time for a totally unforeseen one – the COVID-19 Pandemic. Working in close coordination with the Government of India, State Governments and Local Administrations, and in association with Volunteers and Donors, Akshaya Patra began its COVID-19 Food Relief Service on 25th March 2020.

In this hour of need, when the nation is under 21-day lockdown to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, Akshaya Patra is aiding the Government’s effort by serving cooked meals and distributing grocery kits to low-income and marginalised population of the society comprising of migrant labourers, daily wage workers, construction site workers, and needy people in old age homes and night shelters.

As on 24 May 2020, Akshaya Patra has served 2,13,93,331 cooked meals and distributed 6,32,604 grocery kits across Rajasthan, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Punjab and Tripura.

Here is a weekly glimpse of Akshaya Patra’s relief work in various locations across India.
